The short version
- 1The website build is included with a paid $50/month subscription. The service as a whole is not free.
- 2Your first $50 is due at signup. It's your first month, not a setup fee, and billing continues until you cancel.
- 3Hosting, a Lead Catcher for website estimate requests, a basic CRM, and one minor website edit each billing month are included.
- 4Tech Turtle keeps ownership of the website design and code unless you choose an optional flat $2,500 buyout after it's completed. Without a buyout, the site goes offline when the subscription ends.
- 5Before choosing any free website offer, check real examples on your phone, what edits cost, and what you own.
The founding rate is available to the first 50 qualifying contractor subscribers and stays in place while their subscriptions remain continuously active.
That is the offer. The build is included with a paid subscription. The entire service is not free.
Now, here is why we put it together this way.
A free website is not much of a deal when you still have to build it yourself, figure out where customer inquiries go, and learn how to update it after work. We believe the best free contractor website offer should solve those problems, not hand them back to you.
I built this because I used to be on the other side of it
Before Tech Turtle, I ran a painting business in Wisconsin.
I was getting better at the work. I was taking better pictures. But my website was not keeping up because I did not know how to get those new pictures onto it.
I eventually learned how to work on the site myself. That experience helped lead me into building websites for other business owners. You can read more about that on our about page.
But a painting contractor should not need to follow that same path just to update a project photo. Neither should a roofer, landscaper, concrete contractor, or electrician.
You already have estimates to send, customers to call back, equipment to maintain, and work to finish. Becoming your own website support department should not be another requirement. That is the problem this package is built around.
What should a free contractor website actually include?
A contractor website should make it easy to answer three questions: What do you do, where do you work, and how can someone request an estimate? Everything else should support that.
Your photos should show your work. Your service descriptions should explain what you take on. Your contact options should be easy to find on a phone.
Our package connects that website to the tools you use after someone reaches out.
| Included in the contractor subscription | What it does for your business |
|---|---|
| Professional website build | Presents your services, business information, and project photos without a separate build fee. |
| Website hosting | Keeps the website online while your subscription is active. |
| Built-in Lead Catcher | Collects estimate requests submitted through your website. |
| Basic CRM | Keeps customer details and incoming opportunities organized in your dashboard. |
| One minor website edit per billing month | Gives you a way to request a small content update through your client portal without another charge. |
The point is not to give you the longest feature list. It is to give you a website that looks like your business, a way for customers to reach you, and somewhere to keep track of those conversations.
What does the Lead Catcher actually do?
The Lead Catcher saves inquiries submitted through your website so you can review them in your dashboard. The basic CRM helps you organize those inquiries and track their status.
Picture someone looking at your painting work while you are finishing a job. They find the service they need and submit an estimate request. Their details go into your dashboard. When you have a chance to respond, the information is there.
You do not have to remember which website email contained their phone number.
An important limit This system captures website form submissions. It does not automatically collect your phone calls, text messages, or Facebook conversations. It also does not contact the customer for you.
Lead capture is not the same thing as lead generation. You still need people to visit your website, and you still need to follow up. We are giving you a place to receive and organize opportunities, not promising a full schedule just because the website exists.
If you want to see how the requests themselves are worded, our guide to the six questions your estimate request form should ask walks through it trade by trade.
What happens when you need something changed?
One minor update to existing website content is included each paid billing month. You submit the request through your client portal.
Maybe your business hours changed. Maybe an old service description needs correcting. Maybe you have a better photo to replace the one currently on the page. Those are the kinds of requests the included edit is for.
It is one small, clearly defined update, not a new page, a complete redesign, or a collection of unrelated changes. Unused edits do not roll over.
Additional approved minor edits are $50 each. Larger requests are quoted separately, and submitting a support request does not automatically authorize a charge.
This matters to me because I remember having work I wanted people to see and not knowing how to get it onto my website. A useful website service should have an answer for that after launch, not just during the sales conversation.
How can the website build be free?
We do not charge a separate build fee because the website is provided as part of an ongoing paid service. You are subscribing to the website, hosting, and included tools rather than buying a finished website outright.
That also means we keep the package defined. It is built for contractors who need a professional business website and a straightforward way to manage incoming inquiries. It is not a promise to build any software someone can imagine for $50 a month.
That distinction is what makes the offer sensible. You know what you are paying for, and we know what we are responsible for delivering. There is no need to make the price sound more mysterious than it is.
Can contractors anywhere in the United States use it?
Yes. Tech Turtle is based in Wausau, Wisconsin, and our remote website service is available to contractors throughout the United States.
We build for trades including painting, roofing, concrete, landscaping, pressure washing, plumbing, electrical, and other service businesses. You do not need to live near our office.
The important location is the one your customers care about: where your business actually works. A contractor serving three nearby towns needs a website that explains those service areas clearly. A national web design provider should not make your local business sound like a national chain.
Your website should reflect your services, your work, and your customers.
What are the trade-offs?
There are a few, and you should understand them before subscribing.
- You pay for the first month when you sign up. The first $50 is your subscription payment, not an additional setup charge. Monthly billing continues until you cancel.
- The subscription doesn't include ownership of the website code. You keep ownership of your business name, logo, photos, and content you provide. Tech Turtle retains ownership of the website design, code, and platform. When the subscription ends, the website goes offline and is not transferred to another host.
- You can buy it outright if you want to. Anytime after the website is completed, an optional flat $2,500 buyout transfers the completed website and its transferable website-specific files and assets. Past monthly payments don't count toward it, and it excludes Tech Turtle's proprietary CRM, dashboard, hosting, and future updates.
- Domain ownership is separate. A domain you already own remains yours. When Tech Turtle purchases a domain for you, we own and manage it during the subscription, and you can purchase it for $50 if you cancel. Domains aren't automatically included in the website buyout.
This arrangement suits someone who wants the website handled as an ongoing service. For an owner who wants the finished code delivered so they can move it between providers, an outright website purchase may be a better fit.
We would rather explain that now than have you discover it later. The full details are in the plan terms.
How should you compare free contractor website offers?
Start by ignoring the biggest headline for a minute.
Open a real example on your phone. Can you quickly understand the business, find its service area, and see how to request an estimate? Are you looking at a website included in the advertised package, or a larger custom project?
On our contractor page, we distinguish our custom client portfolio from a separately labeled example of the $50/month website plan. They show different things: our broader design experience and the scope of this particular offer.

Next, look at what happens after someone submits a request. Ask to see the dashboard or try the demo. A screenshot of a chart is not the same as understanding how you will use the system. The demo uses fictional data.
Finally, read the ongoing terms. Find out what edits cost, what you own, how cancellation works, and what disappears when you stop paying. Those answers tell you more about the value of an offer than the word "free" ever will.
- Open a real example on your phoneCan you tell what the business does, where it works, and how to request an estimate within a few seconds?
- Confirm the example matches the offerIs it a site built on the advertised plan, or a larger custom project used to sell a smaller package?
- See where inquiries goAsk to see the dashboard or try a demo. A screenshot of a chart doesn't show how you'll use it.
- Ask what an edit costsHow many changes are included, what counts as one, and what happens to the ones you don't use?
- Ask what you ownYour name, logo, photos and content? The design and code? The domain?
- Ask what happens when you cancelDoes the site go offline, move to another host, or get handed over? Can you keep the domain, and at what price?
- Read the ongoing termsMonthly price, contract length, and whether the low rate is locked or temporary.
Who is this package a good fit for?
This package is designed for a contractor who wants a professional website without a separate build invoice or another piece of technology to manage alone.
You might be starting a business. You might already have customers and a good reputation, but no useful website. You might have an older site that no longer represents the work you do.
The fit is strongest when you need the essentials handled well: your services, your photos, your contact information, estimate requests, and a simple way to keep those requests organized.
Not the right fit for An online store, a complex multi-location website, or a custom application. Those projects need a different scope. This subscription is also not an ongoing advertising or SEO campaign, and it does not guarantee search rankings, leads, or booked jobs.
Why we believe this is a better free contractor website offer
Because we are not stopping at the build. We are connecting the website to lead capture, customer organization, and a practical way to request a small update when your business changes.
You get a defined monthly price. You can see the work before deciding. You can read the ownership terms without digging for them. And you are not signing a long-term contract just to get started.
That is what we believe makes a website offer worth considering. Not whether somebody calls themselves the best. Whether the service makes running your business a little easier.
Get your website handled. Get back to your work.
